Having an Instacart account is absolutely free! There's no charge for keeping an account open. We add new stores, features, and exclusive deals as we grow.

Are you looking to cancel your upcoming monthly or yearly Instacart+ membership renewal? Follow the steps here.

Need to turn off promotional emails? Here’s how.

Account deletion

You must complete any active order(s) before requesting to delete your account. Instacart+ members should cancel their membership before requesting account deletion.

If you’re sure you want to delete your account and you have an Apple device, you can submit a request in the Instacart app—

  1. Tap the 3 horizontal lines in the upper right corner.
  2. Tap Your account settings.
  3. Tap Account information
  4. Tap Delete account.

Look for an email from OneTrust with further instructions. Check your spam folder if it’s not in your inbox.

Please note this email mentions "your personal information request” and is ONLY about account deletion.

Once you get the email, select Confirm in the email. Please do so within 7 days or you’ll have to submit another request to delete your account. Account deletion requests occur within 30 days. You can continue placing orders during these 30 days.

Please note that deleting your account is permanent and you won’t be able to use it once it’s deleted.

In-app account deletion is unavailable on Android devices at this time. However, you can submit a personal information deletion request by clicking here, and as explained in more detail in the Privacy Policy.

Account deactivation

Account deactivation occurs 1 of 2 ways—

  1. You contact Customer Experience to ask for account deactivation.
  2. Instacart deactivates it due to potential fraud or other risks.

What to expect if Instacart deactivates your account—

  • Look for an email from our Financial Risk and Account Security team. Reply to that email with any requested information.
  • You can appeal the deactivation once you submit the requested information.
  • For approved appeals: your account reactivates and, if applicable, refund requests can process.
  • For denied appeals: your account stays deactivated and refund requests are denied.
